Medication Continuing Education Training

Unlicensed persons, as defined in Section 429.256(1)(b), F.S., who provide assistance with self-administration of medications and have successfully completed the initial 6-hour training, must obtain annually a minimum of 2 hours of continuing education training on providing assistance with self-administration of medications and safe medication practices in an assisted living facility. The 2 hours of continuing education training shall only be provided by a registered nurse or licensed pharmacist. The 2 hours of continuing education can be face-to-face or by webinar.
Trained unlicensed staff, prior to the effective date of the Rule, May 10, 2018, who assist with the self-administration of medications and have successfully completed 4 hours of assistance with self-administration of medications training, must complete an additional 2 hours of training that focuses on the new topics of Chapter 429.256(3), F.S. and Chapter 59A-36.011 (6) (c), F.A.C. before assisting with the procedures listed.
Registration Fees: $25 Members $39 Non-Members
Classes are also scheduled upon request with 10 or more attendees.
There will be a cancellation/date-modification fee of $10.00 assessed 1 week prior to class.
