Investigating and defending risk events requires a provider to understand and the key principles of risk management. The increase in senior living lawsuits continues to be on the rise. Providers need to be more vigilant now in protecting and preserving their defenses.
Shaddrick A. Haston is a partner and member of the senior living practice group. He focuses on representing assisted living facilities (ALFs), home health agencies, and nursing homes in regulatory and administrative proceedings. In addition, Mr. Haston represents senior living communities in liability defense claims Mr. Haston has spent many years advising owners and operators on compliance, health care licensure, and best practices for health care facility operation. He has several years of experience consulting on the expansion of existing facilities, assisting with initial licensure applications and Medicaid applications and assisting with change of ownership applications to ensure regulatory compliance.
Wilhelmenia (Willie) Long is a registered nurse with over 48 years of experience and knowledge in health care. Over 38 of those years have been in senior living care. In addition to working in the United States, in Health Care, Willie was blessed with the opportunity to work with a company that Launched their assisted living brand in Canada and The United Kingdom. She is also a Licensed Health Care Risk Manager, a Certified CPR Instructor and an independent trainer for Alzheimer’s Disease and Assistance with Medication. She has worked in Acute Care, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Assisted Living Communities and Home Health. She has worked for several Assisted Living Organizations (Sunrise, Horizon Bay and Allegro) where she passionately served in positions of Director, Manager, Quality Care Director, and Vice President of Residents Care and Services. She currently works part time as a Nurse Paralegal with Ullman Bursa Law.
