Miami-Dade County - Helen Sawyer Plaza ALF

Miami-Dade County through its Public Housing and Community Development converted the public housing development Helen M. Sawyer Plaza into an assisted living facility in 1998. The Helen M. Sawyer Plaza ALF is the first facility of its kind to be transformed from public housing. It is a multi-service facility providing a continuum-of-care for low-income elderly residents who wish to maintain their independence without worrying about difficulties with one or more of the essential activities of daily living. The facility provides a range of amenities and services enabling the elderly residents to age with dignity, including accessible telephones on every floor, cable TV, community room, air conditioning, emergency alarm systems, and housekeeping service.
